How Did This Accident Occur?

Police seem to have made up their minds about how this crash happened, attributing it to an SUV that tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. That may prove to be just what happened, but that doesn’t mean authorities don’t owe those affected by this crash a thorough investigation, one that gathers evidence to prove what happened rather than relying on eyewitness accounts, which can be unreliable.

Evidence from the scene and data from the SUVs involved in this crash can help confirm, or rebut, the initial conclusions that police made about this crash. A full inspection of the vehicles also can shed some light on what happened by looking into the possibility that a mechanical defect, such as worn brakes or sudden acceleration contributed to the crash.
