Smith County, TX — June 6, 2023, Cody Collins was fatally injured as the result of a pedestrian accident at around 4:00 a.m. along Highway 31.
Details about the accident were given in the Gilmer Mirror and were said to be from the Texas Department of Public Safety. Their statements say that the incident happened just east of Tyler and involved a commercial truck.
Details at this time suggest that 34-year-old Cody Collins was walking at the time and was apparently along the westbound lanes of the highway. While there, police say that a Freightliner box truck did not avoid Collins, hitting him in the roadway.
As a result of the collision, Collins sustained injuries which ultimately proved to be fatal. Right now, details do not show that anyone else was injured due to the accident. Police do not report any pending charges or citations. Additional details are pending continued investigations by authorities.
