As straight-forward as these preliminary details seem, it’s always important to make sure investigators are being thorough. Crashes can involve multiple factors, and it’s important the evidence has a chance to weigh in. If these details are true, the driving falling asleep could be the primary factor here. But there could also be mechanical issues, faulty safety devices, negligent hiring practices, road hazards, or other issues that also contributed to the crash or the injuries themselves. If nothing else, ruling out other factors can help ensure the victims involved know they’re not missing anything important.
