Accident Report
February 14, 2026, Christina Matthews was injured following a car accident that happened at 1:27 p.m. along South Broadway Avenue.
It appears the accident took place off the corner of the US 69 and Amherst Drive.
Authorities say that a 28-year-old Christina Matthews and a 4-year-old were in a Subaru Outback going northbound. A Ford F-150 was traveling west. Authorities allege that the Ford driver failed to yield, and the vehicles collided.
Due to the accident, Christina Matthews was seriously injured, authorities said. They did not report other injuries. At this time, additional details are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
A driver allegedly failing to yield might answer “what” happened but not “how” it happened. For that, there needs to be clear evidence about what the driver was doing in the moments preceding the crash. One of the most common and most important things to consider is cellphone usage.
I’ve been handling serious car accident cases for over 30 years now. I simply cannot remember the last time I handled a case where cellphone use wasn’t the first thing we investigated. Doing so requires a lot more than asking nicely, though. It usually takes a court order to obtain cell phone data. Even the authorities don’t always have access to the phone records if they feel the records aren’t necessary for whatever charges or citations they plan to file.
If it turns out this crash didn’t involve cell phone use, then at least it can be definitively ruled out. But if anyone has guesses about what would more likely cause a crash like this, I’d welcome their input.
