Harris County, TX — April 12, 2024, Christian Castillo was injured following a motorcycle accident at around 10:45 p.m. along Beltway 8.
Preliminary details about the accident put it in the area of Vista Road.
It appears 35-year-old Christian Castillo was on a Harley-Davidson going southbound along Sam Houston. For reasons not clear right now, the motorcycle crashed into the back of a Nissan Murano. I talk all the time about how it’s important to let evidence speak for itself after a serious crash. Folks may think that’s an obvious thing to say, but crashes like this often lead people to jump to conclusions. Not only is there the misconception that the rear driver in a rear-end collision is always at fault (that’s simply not true), there’s also a common bias against motorcyclists. People will assume the driver was being reckless without knowing anything beyond a preliminary report that likely hasn’t dug into any complex possible factors. Right now, I don’t see any reason to treat a crash like this with any less prudence than a multi-vehicle, fiery 18-wheeler wreck. Either way, the facts need to speak for themselves.
