Accident Report
January 16, 2026, Chase Ferrell was injured due to a single-car accident at approximately 4:15 a.m. along Interstate Highway 30.
According to authorities, two people—20-year-old Chase Ferrell and another 20-year-old man—were traveling in a westbound Toyota Camry on the Tom Landry Freeway near Hotel Street when the accident took place. That’s near the Interstate Highway 35E interchange.
Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Toyota allegedly failed to appropriately control its speed and apparently took faulty evasive action. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it struck a traffic attenuation device.
Ferrell reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. It does not appear that the passenger was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Because of my experience over the years, one detail regarding this accident stands out to me that might be overlooked by most: Ferrell was seriously injured, but the passenger in the car was unhurt. Allow me to explain why that would spark my interest: most people don’t think to check and see whether or not safety features in the vehicle were functioning as they were designed. Were both seatbelts in use? If so, did they both function correctly when it mattered most? Did the airbags deploy in a timely manner? Why is it that one person ended up with serious injuries, while the other walked away unharmed? Let me know in a comment whether or not you think that this is something that investigators should be looking into.
