Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

If the allegations surrounding these chaotic events are true, I just hope investigations haven’t focused solely on the alleged carjacker. Obviously, anyone responsible for these sorts of actions needs to be held accountable. But the sort of evidence needed for criminal charges and the evidence a family needs following a car accident don’t always overlap.

As such, it can take independent investigations into the crash itself to ensure that process goes smoothly while authorities, meanwhile, take care of ensuring a wrongdoer answers for their transgressions. This aren’t simply open-and-shut just because there’s someone to blame. Victims and families need to be able to tell the full story, and that requires clear evidence.
