Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When someone’s seriously hurt in a single-vehicle crash, it’s easy to assume the cause is obvious—but that’s often not the case. These crashes need careful attention, and too often, they don’t get it.
Was the scene fully investigated, or was the crash treated as a low priority? Did anyone inspect the vehicle for mechanical issues like brake or steering failure? Has anyone pulled the car’s onboard data to confirm what really happened?
Those questions can make the difference between assumptions and answers. If authorities don’t take the time to ask these questions, that may be up to more thorough independent investigators.
