How Did This Accident Occur?

People may be quick to assume that something like fatigue led to this crash given how early it happened. That’s possible, and it’s obviously worth consideration. But if there’s going to be a complete understanding of any crash, the investigations need to go beyond just common possible factors.

For example, I’ve handled a lot of car accident cases where authorities never inspected the vehicle’s tires. A defect or sudden tire failure can cause drivers to lose control. It can take specialized training and tools to reconstruct a tire after a crash—things which police don’t often have access to. As a result, important details can slip through the cracks without a more thorough independent inspection.

Perhaps authorities here have been more thorough, but I learned never to take that kind of effort for granted. If it seems like there are areas of this crash not being considered, that’s something that may need to be followed up on.
