How Did This Accident Occur?

There are those who will jump to conclusions about this accident and make the assumption that it must have been due to the ubiquitous “driver error”. I do understand that instinct. Human error does play a role in the majority of car accidents, statistically speaking. One or the other of the people involved could have been distracted, fatigued, or even impaired. However, I hope investigators consider the less likely causes, as well. What if the two vehicles collided due to brake failure, for example? I am well aware that scenarios like that are unlikely, but that does not mean they should automatically be ruled out.

Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or, if need be, a third party—get in-depth inspections done on the involved vehicles. That way any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that had a hand in the wreck won’t be allowed to fly unnoticed under the radar. After all, the people affected by this accident—especially the loved ones left behind by the deceased woman—deserve real answers backed by solid evidence. Surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
