Flower Mound, TX — November 9, 2024, one person was injured in a car accident at about 9:10 p.m. on F.M. 407/Justin Road.
A preliminary accident report indicates a 2015 Ford Edge was headed west when it rear-ended two vehicles that were stopped at the light on Long Prairie Road.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a 2006 Kia Sorento, suffered suspected serious injuries in the crash, according to authorities. The 30-year-old Lewisville man’s name has not been made public at this time.
The two people in the Ford Edge and the driver of the 200 Jeep Liberty that also was involved in the crash were not injured, the report states.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Denton County crash.

Whenever a serious crash happens, it’s important to ensure that all possible factors are considered in the investigation. While initial reports provide a general idea of the events, they often leave out key details that could explain why the crash occurred in the first place. That’s why it’s critical to ask three key questions to determine whether the investigation has been as thorough as it should be.
The first question is whether authorities conducted a detailed investigation. Law enforcement agencies do their best, but their resources, training and time constraints can impact how deeply they examine a crash. Reports indicate that a Ford Edge rear-ended two vehicles stopped at a traffic light, but that alone doesn’t tell the full story. Did the driver fail to notice the stopped traffic, or was there another factor that prevented them from stopping in time? Were road conditions, poor lighting or visibility issues a factor? Did authorities check for witness statements, review surveillance footage or analyze roadway markings? A complete investigation should explore all possible contributing factors rather than relying on surface-level explanations.
The next question is whether anyone has considered the possibility of a vehicle defect. While rear-end collisions are often attributed to driver inattention, mechanical failures — such as brake malfunctions, accelerator issues or electronic failures — could also play a role. The Ford Edge, being nearly a decade old, may have had worn-out components that affected its ability to stop properly. Likewise, the Kia Sorento and Jeep Liberty should also be examined to determine if any defects contributed to the severity of the crash. Preserving these vehicles for forensic examination is crucial before they are repaired or scrapped.

Modern vehicles store valuable crash-related information in their engine control modules (ECMs), which can reveal speed, braking and steering input before impact. Additionally, given that this crash happened at a busy intersection, nearby businesses or traffic cameras may have recorded the events leading up to the collision. If distraction is a concern, phone records could also provide relevant insight. Securing this data quickly is essential, as electronic evidence can be lost or overwritten over time.
When a crash results in serious injuries, those affected deserve clear answers about what happened. A full investigation — one that considers all possible factors and preserves key evidence — ensures that nothing is overlooked and that the true cause of the crash comes to light.
