Polk County, TX — May 16, 2024, Byron Hughes was injured following a car accident just before 9:00 p.m. along Farm to Market 1988.
According to authorities, 53-year-old Byron Hughes was traveling in a westbound Cadillac on F.M. 1988 in the vicinity southwest of Tyler Road when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an eastbound Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck on F.M. 1988 attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. This resulted in a head-on collision between the pickup truck and the Cadillac.
Hughes suffered reportedly serious injuries as a result of the wreck; he was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
