Clay County, TX — April 8, 2023, Brandon Bennett and another man were injured following a single-vehicle car accident along FM 174.
Officials said that the incident happened just after 5:00 p.m. in the area of FM 174 and Reed Road.
It appears that 35-year-old Brandon Bennett and a 47-year-old man were in a Chevy pickup going westbound along FM 174. At a curve in the road, the vehicle somehow lost control, causing it to swerve and overturn.

As a result of the crash, the driver of the pickup was said to have incapacitating injuries. Bennett’s condition was not specified. The exact cause of the crash requires further information to confirm.

Single-vehicle wrecks like this are among the most common ones I get calls about. People don’t often think they’re all that complex until they or a loved one are involved in a single-vehicle wreck. Simply put, there are all kinds of reasons this sort of thing can happen.
Manufacturing defects, medical emergencies, being over-served by a bar, road hazards, texting and driving, hit-and-run drivers that left the scene, etc. Likely or not, it’s important to consider every possible factors. The people I see with the best outcomes in these situations are the ones where authorities took the situation seriously and let the evidence speak for itself. Hopefully authorities here did just that.
