Smith County, TX — June 21, 2025, a man was injured as the result of a boating accident at around 10:30 p.m. along the Sabine River.
According to initial details from authorities, the incident happened in an area south of Hawkins.
Details are unclear right. It appears that two boats on the Sabine River collided, seriously injuring one person. That person was reportedly flown from the scene in critical condition. It’s unclear if anyone else was injured.
Investigations are ongoing at this time.

People sometimes think there’s going to be a whole different set of legal hurdles with boating accidents, but the general idea is similar to car accidents. At the end of the day, it’s about how things could have been avoided and whether or not either boat operator behaved negligently. That means taking witness statements, pulling cell phone records, testing for drugs and alcohol, etc. Whether an accident’s on the road or on the water, getting clear answers is a prudent first step to getting a proper resolution for those involved.
