Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

A severe head-on collision is bound to create a chaotic accident scene for authorities. The path ahead for families is rarely ever clear right away, but taking steps early to make sure investigations are thorough can help clear the way.

A lot of folks may think authorities have things handled, but I’ve seen first hand how authorities sometimes move on too quickly or treat car accidents as a low priority. A proper investigations should be able to cover every possibility from a medical emergency to speeding to faulty road design to vehicle defects. Likely or not, it’s up to the evidence to show what really happened.

So, if authorities can reassure victims and families they’re gathering as much of that evidence as possible, that’s good. Otherwise, if it seems there are shortcomings in the investigations, there may need to be independent accident reconstructionists ready to pick up the slack.
