Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
There are a lot of different reasons something like this can happen, from a tire blowout to distracted driving to a medical emergency to road hazards, just to name a few examples. Something I consistently push back against is when people immediately assume someone did something wrong.
To be clear, that’s very possible here—perhaps even likely. But looking into things like cell phone usage or speeding is just as important as considering things like manufacturing defects or other drivers who fled the scene. Without knowing the whole story, things only become more challenging for the victims and families involved. That’s why steps must always be taken to ensure they’re getting the answers they deserve.
