Authorities released preliminary information which says the accident happened off the corner of the South Lee Trevino Drive and Burnham Road intersection.

One of the main challenges with accidents like this one is just ensuring authorities are getting all of the facts. If there aren’t any witnesses to a crash (which is common with early morning wrecks), and the victim’s injuries prevent them from speaking with authorities immediately after the crash, it can lead to situations where authorities rush to conclusions without actually considering the evidence.
That’s why a lot of the calls I get from people dissatisfied with police investigations are people affected by single-vehicle wrecks. Ensuring there is some sort of closure, then, can require efforts from independent investigators. Sometimes, an independent investigation will just confirm that authorities were actually being thorough the whole time. Often, though, they can catch important details authorities let slip through the cracks. It remains to be seen if authorities here were able to get the whole story.
