Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

The very least we parents can expect from schools is that our children will be safe in their hands. Obviously, accidents happen. But when it comes to intoxicated drivers, in my experience, an accident rarely comes out of nowhere. More often than not, there are signs that an attentive employer would be able to catch. Were there signs that this driver had substance abuse issues? Did they have a history of intoxicated driving? Were they not subject to regular testing? While this could have been a lot worse, someone was still hurt due to this crash. It’s important steps are taken to make sure no one else is hurt in the future.
