Something I haven’t seen authorities talk about is where the allegedly drunk driver was coming from. There could be a lot more to this than just a drunk driver.

For example, I had a case not long ago with a driver who went into oncoming traffic and hit a family head-on, seriously injuring a young kid. Through our investigations, we found out the man was illegally over-served at a bar when he went out to a happy hour with co-workers. That led not only to the driver being in serious trouble but also the bar that over-served him, as they ended up the focus of a personal injury claim due to their role in the crash.

Authorities unfortunately don’t often look into negligent alcohol providers on their own, but sometimes officers are experienced enough to ask those questions. It remains to be seen if officers here took that initiative, though.
