Accident Report

May 8, 2026, Alexa Gould and two others were hurt due to a car accident at approximately 5:45 p.m. along F.M. 3163 (Milam Road).

According to authorities, 24-year-old Alexa Gould was traveling in an eastbound Nissan Rogue on Milam Road at the Canyon Road intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, as the Rogue attempted a left turn onto Canyon, a collision occurred between it’s front-end and the front-end of a westbound Chevrolet Equinox occupied by a 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old man.

All three people reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

When it comes to car accidents in which one vehicle was attempting to turn left, most people are quick to cast blame on the driver of the turning vehicle. I’ve been in this line of business for over thirty years, though. In that time, I’ve analyzed thousands of car accidents. There have been plenty of cases where, contrary to how things seemed on the surface, the investigations ended up unearthing evidence of less likely causes. Because of that, I don’t like jumping to conclusions.

To be clear, I’m not trying to say that I know more about this specific accident than anyone outside of the investigation would. I simply want to suggest a hypothetical. What if, rather than driver error, the collision was a result of something wrong with the Nissan? For example, maybe something had happened to the steering mechanism? Or perhaps the brakes failed? I understand that these things are not super likely, but neither are they outside of the realm of possibilities.

On top of that, I would be interested to know how well the safety features of these vehicles performed. Was either vehicle equipped with collision avoidance? If so, why did it fail? What about airbags? Did they deploy correctly and in a timely manner? And then there are the seatbelts. Did they function the way they were designed? You might be wondering why any of this would matter. Well, if any of these features were faulty, then it is possible that the victims’ injuries ended up being more severe than they should have been.

In-depth vehicle inspections done by professionals in a laboratory setting would be able to pinpoint any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role in the accident and its outcome. Hopefully the authorities get them done. If they don’t, though, then a third party investigation can always take that step, instead. Plus it never hurts to have a second perspective go over things and ensure that nothing important falls through the cracks.

In the end, the people affected by this accident deserve a clear and detailed understanding of how and why it happened. That kind of clarity comes from thorough investigation; asking the right questions and finding real answers backed by solid evidence. Surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
