I can only hope authorities were able to provide more information than this to the victim’s loved ones. Not only do they deserve to know the whole story, but it’s possible whatever information they get will be all they have to tell their side of the story. Something that makes Walmart relatively unique in Texas is that it doesn’t subscribe to the workers’ comp system. In other words, there are likely no guaranteed benefits to help the victim’s family during this difficult time.

Since OSHA’s only real priority is to issue fines, and authorities don’t tend to do continue looking into things if there isn’t a suspected crime to address. While the workers’ comp system does have certain upsides, it’s always tough to see families left on their own to find the investigators, evidence, and tools they need to fight for the resolution they deserve.
