How Did This Accident Occur?
Did one of these vehicles run a stop sign? Was a driver distracted? Did a vehicle have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? These are the kind of questions that authorities must consider as they work to reconstruct this accident.
They likely will gather physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage to piece together what happened on Missouri Route 21, while cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time of the crash. An outside expert could be needed if investigators suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash.
Most law enforcement agencies do not have the time or training for a forensic examination of these vehicles, but the fatally injured driver’s family deserves to know as much as possible about this accident.
