Accident Report

March 14, 2026, a man was injured due to a single-car accident just before 12:00 midnight along Texla Road (F.M. 2802).

According to authorities, a 22-year-old man was traveling in a southeast bound Nissan two-door sedan on Texla Road in the vicinity northwest of the Marshall Willey Road intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Nissan failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck a culvert.

The man reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I’ve had this career for over three decades. In that time, I seem to have developed somewhat of a pet peeve. I find it annoying when the cause of a car accident is said to have been “failure to maintain lane of travel”. Can we agree that that is not a cause? It’s a symptom. It will be up to the investigation to figure out what the cause of the lane deviation was.

Some will be tempted to blame driver error without giving it a second thought. However, might I suggest a hypothetical? What if something went wrong with the Nissan’s mechanics—like a steering mechanism issue, for example? I know it isn’t super likely, but it certainly isn’t outside of the realm of possibilities, so it merits looking into, at the very least.

Hopefully, investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get an in-depth vehicle inspection done by a trained professional in a laboratory setting. That way, any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role in the wreck won’t fly under the radar. After all, the victim deserves clear answers backed by solid evidence. Vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation won’t cut it, especially when it conveniently places all the blame on his shoulders.
