Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With a disabled vehicle, investigations tend to revolve around a few key details. Why did the vehicle come to a stop? Was it well lit, or did it have its emergency lights on? Did the approaching driver have time to react? Were there other drivers who avoided the disabled vehicle without any issue? Was the vehicle facing a direction that made it less visible?
It would surprise folks how often that even authorities overlook some of these details. At the end of the day, victims and families involved in a serious accident should be vigilant about the sort of answers they’re getting from authorities. If they feel those answers aren’t adding up, it’s important to have a second set of eyes look things over promptly so nothing important slips through the cracks.
