Whenever someone is seriously injured in a car accident, there can be challenges that folks may not generally consider. As much as folks assume authorities always have crack CSI teams looking into accidents, they can often base their findings on little more than statements from witnesses and the people involved in the crash. But if someone is seriously injured, they may not be able to give their side of the story.
Some officers are thorough enough to gather as much evidence as possible to fill in the blanks. Others, whether it’s due to a lack of experience, equipment, or time, may throw up their hands and say, “I guess we’ll never know.” That’s one reason why independent investigators who prioritize the evidence often provide better insight into the factors surrounding a crash. If people want to be sure there’s no confusion about what happened, that starts with getting the facts.
