Hidalgo County, TX — April 23, 2024, Sergio Delgado and Jeremy John Hess were killed while Amanda Bender and one other person injured in a car accident at about 9:45 a.m. along Texas Road.
According to authorities, the accident occurred at the intersection of Texas Road and Alamo Road, F.M. 907.
Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, an eastbound Ford Escape occupied by two people on Texas Road failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign at the Alamo Road intersection. This resulted in a collision between the Ford Escape and a southbound Nissan Versa. This collision caused the Nissan to side-swipe a northbound Cadillac which led to it veering off of the road where it caught fire. Meanwhile, the Ford swerved off of the roadway and struck a utility pole, at which point the Ford’s passenger was ejected. Before coming to a stop, the Ford also crashed into an unoccupied van.
The Nissan driver, 29-year-old Sergio Delgado, died in the crash. Both occupants of the Ford escape, Amanda Bender and Jeremy Hess, were seriously hurt. One person from the Cadillac suffered injuries of unknown severity. All three were taken to area hospitals, where Hess later died.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
