Colorado County, TX — December 8, 2023, one person was killed in a truck accident just after 7:45 p.m. along Fischer Buller Road.
According to reports, a 39-year-old man was traveling in a southwest bound 18-wheeler hauling saltwater in the vicinity just east of the Lutonsky Road intersection when the accident took place.
For unknown reasons, the vehicle was traveling at speeds allegedly deemed too high for the road conditions and the vehicle load. As it approached a right hand curve in the road, it failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. Breaks were reportedly applied in an attempt to negotiate the curve, but the vehicle overturned onto its left side into the ditch on the left side of the road where it collided with several trees and a barbed wire fence. The vehicle then overturned onto its right side where it came to rest on the south side of the road.
The 39-year-old sole occupant of the 18-wheeler reportedly sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, having been declared deceased. The accident is under investigation by local authorities. Weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been clear and dry.
