A fatal crash in Bertie County claimed the life of 52-year-old James Edward Hughson of Colerain, North Carolina. The collision occurred early Tuesday morning when a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling south on Blackrock Road allegedly collided with a tractor-trailer that was backing across the roadway into a private driveway. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. Hughson was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
