Mesquite, TX — June 1, 2023, Stephen Howard was killed following a pedestrian accident that occurred at around 9:26 p.m. along Motley Drive.
Mesquite and Dallas County officials released information indicating the incident happened in the area of the Motley Drive and Sorrento Drive intersection, just off I-30.
Initial statements from authorities indicate that 66-year-old Stephen Howard was on a bicycle at the time and was riding along Motley. Howard had apparently just crested a hill when, for reasons not specified, a vehicle traveling behind Howard did not slow down in time after going over the hill, hitting Howard.
As a result of the collision, Howard sustained injuries which proved to be fatal. Right now, there are no other reported injuries. Authorities did not say if the driver would face charges or citations. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear.
