Houston, TX — August 3, 2023, a woman was injured following a police chase car accident at around 2:00 a.m. along Highway 6.
Initial details about the accident say that it took place at the intersection of Highway 6 and Beechnut Street. It appears the incident began after authorities conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle which they allege had plates that did not match the vehicle. That driver allegedly sped away from officers, and a pursuit ensued.
As the chase proceeded, a 27-year-old woman was in a car that was crossing the Highway 6 and Beechnut Street intersection. Details suggest the woman had a green light, but an officer’s car with emergency lights flashing crossed at the same time. The two vehicles collided as a result.
Due to the collision, the woman in the car was taken from the scene in what was described as critical condition. It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt. Authorities didn’t give further specifics about the runaway driver, including whether or not anyone has been arrested. At this time, investigations are ongoing.
