March 18, 2026, a pedestrian lost their life due to a car accident at approximately 6:15 a.m. along Interstate Highway 45 (North Freeway).

According to authorities, a pedestrian was on foot in the vicinity of I-45 and Airline Drive. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the pedestrian was struck by a northbound motor vehicle. The victim reportedly sustained fatal injuries over the course of the accident.

Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Most people who hear about pedestrian involved accidents on freeways jump to conclusions based on the victim’s presence in a dangerous area. However, I’ve had the opportunity to analyze hundreds of pedestrian-involved car accidents over the years. Because of this, I feel like i have a fairly unique perspective.

I would like to know if the victim was outside of their vehicle due to a previous accident, perhaps? Or maybe they were a Good Samaritan assisting a stranded driver? Additionally, lets consider the vehicle that struck the pedestrian. Did it have working lights? Was it equipped with pedestrian detection that somehow malfunctioned or failed? If the driver did see the pedestrian in a good amount of time, then were the brakes working properly? Did it suffer from a steering issue at a critical moment?

These are all things that can and should be answered through thorough investigation. Hopefully the authorities have the resources to properly answer all these questions, and more. However, if their work, for any reason, fails to adequately cover all the bases, a third party investigation is always an option. After all, blame should not be placed on the victim just because it is a convenient and likely excuse. A proper investigation will bring to light the answers that will put the responsibility for the accident where it actually belongs.
