How Did This Accident Occur?
Usually when you read about an early-morning crash like this, you expect there to be some indication that alcohol was involved. That isn’t the case here, at this point, so authorities likely are looking at other possibilities.
Maybe the alleged wrong-way driver was confused or fatigued. Or maybe the Ford had an issue with its steering mechanism. The best way to figure out what happened, in my experience, is to wait until the investigation is complete.
Authorities likely will scrutinize physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage as they work to reconstruct this crash. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing before the crash.
If investigators suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash, a qualified expert should examine the vehicles in a laboratory setting.
Such a thorough investigation will provide answers to any lingering questions the Ford driver and his family may have about this accident.
