Accident Report
April 28, 2026, Nuha Hammad and three others were injured due to a car accident just before 4:45 p.m. along State Highway 45.
According to authorities, 53-year-old Nuha Hammad was traveling in a southeast bound Cadillac Escalade on the S.H. 45 service road at the C.R. 172 intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Escalade purportedly entered the intersection against a red light. A collision consequently occurred between the Escalade and a northeast bound Ford Bronco occupied by a 45-year-old woman, and two men ages 53 and 25. The Cadillac apparently overturned over the course of the accident.
Hammad reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. The three people from the Bronco suffered minor injuries, as well, according to reports. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
When it comes to accidents where a vehicle runs a red light, most people are quick to point fingers at the driver. I’ve been in this line of business for over thirty years, though. In that time, I’ve seen plenty of similar accidents in which evidence of less likely causes ended up being unearthed by the investigation. That is why, no matter how things appear on the surface, I avoid jumping to conclusions.
To be clear, I’m not insinuating that I know more about this accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. As far as I am aware, driver error is still on the table as a possible cause. I just want to point out that, hypothetically, the Escalade could have failed to stop for the red light due to something like brake failure or a throttle issue.
On top of that, though, there is the fact that the Escalade overturned. Most people don’t know this, but the rollover tests that car manufacturers are required to pass do not actually do a very good job of simulating real-world scenarios. I would be very interested to know whether or not a design flaw with the Cadillac contributed to the fact that it rolled. Why? Because it is possible that the victim’s injuries would not have been so serious had it managed to remain safely upright.
Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get an in-depth vehicle inspection done on the Cadillac. That way any mechanical malfunctions, product defects, or design flaws that played a role in the wreck will not be allowed to fly under the radar. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve a clear and detailed understanding as to how any why it occurred. Surface-level investigation just can’t provide that kind of clarity.
