Accident Report
Pecos County, TX — March 13, 2026, Morgan Reinke was injured in a truck accident at about 1:15 a.m. on Interstate 10 east of Fort Stockton.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a westbound 2019 Peterbilt semi-truck rear-ended a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 towing a trailer near exit 264.
A passenger in the pickup, 30-year-old Morgan Reinke, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report. The driver and another passenger suffered minor injuries.
The Peterbilt driver, who also suffered minor injuries, was cited for speeding after the crash, the report states.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Pecos County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
The truck driver was cited for speeding, but that is only a contributing factor to this crash, not the cause. Was the driver distracted by a cell phone? Or pushing to meet a deadline? Or did the truck have a problem with its brakes?
These questions can be answered only by a thorough investigation, one built on facts derived from evidence at the scene, data from the truck’s engine control modules, witness statements and any available dashcam footage. An independent expert may be needed to identify any mechanical problems with the truck, since that is beyond the scope of most law enforcement investigations, in my experience.
