Austin, TX — July 17, 2024, Daniel Long was injured as the result of an 18-wheeler accident at around 2:51 p.m. along Ronald Reagan Boulevard.
Preliminary details about the accident say that it happened at the intersection of West Ronald Reagan Boulevard and F.M. 3405, just outside Liberty Hill.
According to officials, 38-year-old Daniel Long was in a Hyundai Sonata going southbound on Ronald Reagan. At the intersection, an eastbound 18-wheeler was making a left turn to go northbound. As it did so, the car crashed into the trailer. Daniel Long was seriously injured as a result.

Something I noticed is that this intersection appears to be a 4-way stop, which folks would assume makes this just a simple case of finding out who had the right-of-way. But any crash can involve complex possible factors, and it’s important those get attention, even if it’s just to rule them out. Is this a notoriously dangerous intersection? Did someone’s brakes fail? Was there missing signage or overgrowth obstructing visibility? It’s possible this all was straight-forward, but at the end of the day, the evidence needs to be able to speak for itself.
