Accident Report
May 7, 2026, Blonie Lackey was injured due to an 18-wheeler accident which occurred at 11:20 a.m. along I-20.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash happened along westbound lanes of the interstate in the area of South Polk Street in south Dallas.
Investigators said that 49-year-old Blonie Lackey was in a Ford F-250 going along the roadway. In events which are unclear right now, the pickup and two commercial trucks collided. Blonie Lackey sustained serious injuries due to the accident.
No other injuries were reported. At this time, additional details about the accident are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
There are a lot more questions than answers here. Obviously, there are common factors that need attention after any serious crash—distracted driving and unsafe speeds are the two most prominent ones. But when I have investigators look into a crash, I don’t expect them to only look at common factors. Even unlikely, sometimes unavoidable factors need attention, as well.
A vehicle defect, for example, doesn’t often lead to a serious crash. However, they have, they can, and they will. It’s important, then, that investigators can at least rule them out. At worst, it helps reassure victims and families that nothing important is slipping through the cracks. At best, it can catch evidence of something that police rarely are able to look into on their own.
So, whatever led to this crash, a prudent first step is often just to make sure the crash is in the hands of experienced accident reconstructionists. The sooner they can dig into the evidence, the more of it they can preserve for whatever path is available to the victims and their families.
