Accident Report
March 12, 2026, two people were injured following an 18-wheeler accident at around 11:35 a.m. along Interstate 45.
Preliminary information from authorities says that the crash took place along southbound lanes of the North Freeway in the area of W. Greens Road.
According to officials, five men, ages 19 to 21, were in a Mercedes-Benz going southbound along the freeway. A Mack truck pulling a trailer was traveling the same direction. In events not clear right now, the vehicles collided with each other.
A 20-year-old passenger from the car had reportedly serious injuries. The 20-year-old driver had apparently less severe injuries. No other injuries were reported.
At this time, additional details remain unconfirmed.
How Did This Accident Occur?
When two vehicles going the same direction collide, it’s often the result of someone being on their phone—often, but not always. That’s where people can get a bit lost. Most people, and even the authorities sometimes, will just jump to the most likely explanation and consider the matter closed. However, a proper accident reconstruction can catch extenuating circumstances that can show a seemingly run-of-the-mill crash actually involved rather complex circumstances.
For example, I can’t remember the last time I got a commercial truck accident case where authorities inspected the vehicles for possible defects. Faulty brakes, steering columns, tires, lane assistance or crash avoidance systems, sticky accelerators, seatbelts and airbags not working as intended—these things can easily slip through the cracks of a basic, surface-level accident investigation. With the right experience and equipment, though, issues may come to light that preliminary investigations completely missed.
Ultimately, investigations might definitively rule out possible defects. That alone is an important step in a thorough accident reconstruction. After all, it’s a whole lot better to rule out something that didn’t happen than to miss something just because it seemed unlikely. So if authorities are being thorough here, that’s good. It just wouldn’t be unusual if the victims and families affected by the crash felt there needed to be another set of eyes looking things over.
