When you've filed as many dram shop lawsuits as I have, you regularly encounter people who are skeptical about the merits of dram shop lawsuits. To help raise awareness, I like to occasionally search the public records of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and publish my findings. The 7-Eleven brand is a Japanese-owned American international chain of convenience stores, headquartered in Irving, TX. The convenience store brand has more than 45,000 locations worldwide. and boasts an annual revenue of approximately $120 billion. These numbers make 7-11 the most popular convenience store brand in the world.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has conducted 29 investigations into allegations of improper service or handling of alcohol since the start of 2017.
Simply because an 7-Eleven location was investigated, it does not mean that they are a location that displays a pattern of violating TABC code. Conversely, if a location has been investigated and investigators determine that they are not in violation of TABC code, that does not mean that the alleged violation did not take place. At times, sufficient evidence required to prove that either criminal or administrative violations occurred is hard to come by, thus, hard to corroborate. We are simply reporting the locations that were put on the TABC's radar for one reason or another by concerned citizens and law enforcement agencies.
7-Eleven Convenience Store Locations Investigated Since 2017
Cameron - 3035 Plantation Dr
Allegation:
On 6/22/2018, a law enforcement agency alleged that there was alcohol to a minor.
On 6/26/2018, the investigation was closed and investigators found that there was an administrative violation, however, no fines were levied against the store.
Harlingen - 1725 S F Street
Allegation:
On 06/22/2018, police alleged that this location may have sold alcohol to a person under the age of 21.
Later, on 6/26/2018, TABC investigators closed the case with no further action taken against this location.
Haslet - 2420 Westport Parkway
Allegation:
It was alleged by a member of the community on 4/16/2018 that a licensee or employee was intoxicated while on the job.
TABC officials closed their investigation on 5/21/2018, with no further action taken against 7-Eleven.
Denton - 101 Loop 288 S
Allegation:
This location was alleged to have sold alcohol to a minor by a law enforcement agency on 4/9/2018. They were then referred to the TABC for investigation.
On 5/5/2018, TABC closed their investigation after being unable to find enough evidence to move forward in the process.
Austin - 6111 Fm 2244
Allegation:
On 2/28/2018, police alleged that this location had sold alcohol to an intoxicated person.
On 4/19/2018, the investigation was closed with no further action taken.
Austin - 6111 Bee Cave Road
Allegation:
On 02/27/2018, it was alleged that this location had sold alcohol to an intoxicated person.
TABC investigators closed the case on 04/19/2018 with no further action taken.
Dallas - 7950 Forest Lane
Allegation:
On 02/26/2018 , it was alleged that this location had sold alcohol during prohibited hours according to Texas law.
The TABC closed the investigation after being unable to find sufficient evidence that the violation occurred on 5/2/2018.
Bedford - 2900 Brown Trail
Allegation:
On 1/10/2018, it was alleged this location had sold alcohol to a person under the age of 21.
TABC detectives closed the investigation on 02/10/2018 without finding any criminal or administrative violations.
Universal City - 3100 Pat Booker Road
Allegation:
On 12/22/2017, a member of the Universal City community alleged that an intoxicated underage employee was permitted to consume alcohol in public.
TABC investigators decided that no further action was necessary and closed the investigation 2/3/2018.
Abilene - 3350 Catclaw Dr
Allegation:
On 10/23/2017, it was alleged by a member of the community that this location had sold alcohol to a minor.
Then, on 11/02/2017, this 7/11 location was found to have been in violation of TABC guidelines and were issued a citation.
Dallas - 2750 W Nw Hwy Suite 100
Allegation:
It was alleged that this location had sold alcohol to a minor on 10/6/2017.
TABC officials closed the investigation on 11/28/2017 and took no further action.
Brownwood - 1501 Coggin Ave
Allegation:
On 9/29/2017, it was alleged by the police that this location sold alcohol to an intoxicated person.
Later on 10/26/2017, the investigation was closed with no further action taken.
Dallas - 1985 W Northwest Hwy
Allegation:
On 9/28/2017, it was alleged that this location was selling alcohol during prohibited hours.
TABC investigators decided to close the case on 11/28/2017.
Austin - 408 W 15th St
Allegation:
This location was alleged by a member of the Austin community to have failed to report a breach of the piece on 09/05/2017.
On 09/11/2017, the case was closed with no further action taken.
University Park - 6229 Hillcrest Avenue
Allegation:
On 08/30/2017, it was alleged by a law enforcement agency that this location had sold alcohol to a minor.
The case was closed by TABC officials with no further action taken on 10/13/2017.
Haslet - 2420 Westport Parkway
Allegation:
It was alleged on 08/25/2017 that this location had sold alcohol to a minor.
TABC investigators closed the case on 10/21/2017 with no further action taken.
Irving - 3001 N Belt Line Road
Allegation:
It was alleged that this location sold alcohol to an intoxicated person on 08/07/2017 .
On 10/04/2017, the case was closed with no further action taken.
Austin - 1822 Rutland Dr
Allegation:
A member of the Austin community alleged that this location had sold alcohol to a person under the age of 21 on 8/2/2017.
On 9/29/2017, investigators closed the case without issuing any criminal or administrative penalties.
Cedar Park - 1801 S Lakeline Boulevard
Allegation:
It was alleged that this location had sold alcohol to a minor on 8/2/2017.
On 10/2/2017, the case was closed with no further action taken.
Burkburnett - 918 Sheppard Road
Allegation:
A police officer alleged that this location had been selling alcohol to an intoxicated person on 7/20/2017.
On 8/6/2017, the case was closed with no further action taken against this store.
Lubbock - 3802 34th Street
Allegation:
It was alleged on 5/25/2017 that this location had sold alcohol to a minor.
On 06/16/2017, that there was no further action necessary because there wasn't enough evidence to corroborate the allegation.
Austin - 1747 E Oltorf
Allegation:
It was alleged by a private citizen that this location had sold alcohol during prohibited hours on 4/4/2017.
On 05/20/2017, the TABC investigators decided that there was indeed enough evidence to hand down an administrative penalty.
Cedar Park - 2901 Brushy Creek Drive
Allegation:
A private law enforcement agency alleged that this location had sold alcohol a minor on 04/04/2017.
TABC officials closed the investigation 05/30/2017 after failing to find evidence to support the accusation.
Killeen - 1001 Willow Springs Road Suite 1
Allegation:
A member of the Killeen community alleged that this location had sold alcohol to a minor on 03/29/2017.
On 5/5/2017, the case was closed with no further action taken.
El Paso - 5830 Dyer Street
Allegation:
On 03/29/2017, it was alleged that an intoxicated person was sold alcohol.
On 06/16/2017, the case was closed and the TABC issued a citation.
Dallas - 4747 Greenville Avenue
Allegation:
It was alleged by a police officer that this location had sold alcohol to someone under the age of 21 on 03/02/2017.
On 04/12/2017, the case was closed with no further action taken by the TABC.
Celina - 1513 S Preston Road
Allegation:
On 01/24/2017, it was alleged by a law enforcement agency that this location had sold alcohol to a minor.
On 3/10/2017, the case was closed by TABC detectives after finding a lack of evidence to support the allegations.
Lubbock - 6101 19Th Street
Allegation:
On 01/23/2017, there was an allegation of miscellaneous alcohol violations against this location.
The case was closed on 1/24/2017 and no further action was taken.
San Antonio - 2311 Babcock Road
Allegation:
On 1/5/2017, a member of law enforcement community alleged that this location had sold alcohol to an intoxicated person.
TABC investigators decided to close the case on 1/31/2017 with no further action taken due to lack of evidence.
