How to Get Your Corpus Christi Police Department Accident Report

Getting involved in a car accident can be a stressful experience, and navigating the aftermath can add to the already overwhelming situation.

However, whether for insurance claims, legal proceedings, or simply understanding what happened, obtaining a copy of your accident report is crucial. In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to easily obtain your Corpus Christi accident report, ensuring you have the necessary documentation to move forward confidently.

What Is an Accident Report?

An accident report, also known as a crash report, is an official document filled out by the reporting officer of a car accident. This report typically includes information such as the date, time, and location of the accident, as well as details about the vehicles involved, drivers, passengers, witnesses, and any injuries or property damage sustained. They provide an official record of what occurred, which can be valuable in legal proceedings, insurance claims, and settlements.

Ways to Request Your Corpus Christi Accident Report

There are three options to get an accident report from the Corpus Christi Police Department: online, in-person, or by mail. Here’s a guide on how to request your report using each method.

Online

Currently, there is only one way to get your Corpus Christi accident report online, and that’s through the TxDOT Crash Records Information System. When you get to the website and search for your report, it asks for one of the following pieces of information:

  • The name of someone involved in the accident,
  • You or the other driver’s license number,
  • A vehicle identification number (VIN), or
  • The TxDOT Crash ID on the report.

Keep in mind that it may take around 14 days from the date of the accident for the report to become available online. You can get either a certified or uncertified copy of the report. The uncertified report is only $6, while the certified one is $8. Once purchased, the report is immediately available for digital download.

In-Person

If you prefer a physical copy of your report, you can pick it up in person from the Corpus Christi Police Department. Their central records office is at:

321 John Sartain St.
Corpus Christi, TX 78401

The office is open Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The cost is the same as getting a report online, at $6 per copy.

Mail

For those who don’t live near Corpus Christi, you also have the option to request your accident report by mail. Again, the cost is only $6. Before sending your mail request, the CCPD requests that you call them at (361) 886-2930 first so that you send in the correct information. Afterwards, you can send your request to the following address:

Central Information
Corpus Christi Police Department
P.O. Box 9016
Corpus Christi, TX 78469

Remember that the police department likely needs the same information listed earlier, such as your name and driver’s license number.
