Accident Report
Midland County, TX — May 25, 2026, Oscar Maldonado and another person were injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 2 a.m. on frontage road for Interstate 20.
A preliminary accident report indicates that an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet Silverado crashed into a 2019 Mercedes-Benz C that was stopped at the intersection with County Road 1250.
Mercedes driver Oscar Castellanos Maldonado, 48, and the 51-year-old woman riding with him were seriously injured in the crash near Midland, according to the report. The woman’s name has not been made public yet.
The Chevrolet driver, who was not hurt, was charged with driving while intoxicated and speeding after the accident, the report states.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Midland County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Initial reports indicate that an alleged drunk driver was a blame for this crash. If blood tests confirm that the Chevrolet driver was intoxicated, authorities should move beyond the scene of the accident to determine where he had been drinking.
That matters because under Texas law alcohol providers can share responsibility for any injuries caused by a patron who was served while obviously intoxicated. The only way to know if that is what happened in this instance is to look into the driver’s movements before the crash.
Many law enforcement agencies do not go to such lengths, so the people in the Mercedes may need to seek out an independent investigator to find answers about how may have played a role in this crash.
