Accident Report

Hidalgo County, TX — April 27, 2026, Dora Charles was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 5:30 p.m. on East Mile 5 North Road.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2012 Ford F-350 was heading east in the wrong lane when it collided with a 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara, forcing it to crash into a utility pole.

Suzuki driver Dora Charles, 66, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report.

The Ford driver, a 51-year-old man, was charged with driving while intoxicated after the accident, the report states.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Hidalgo County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I expect authorities to work on reconstructing this crash as they would any other accident, but the investigation should move beyond the scene if blood tests confirm the Ford driver was intoxicated. Figuring out where he was drinking before the crash matters.

It’s one thing if he was drinking at home, but if he was drinking at a bar or restaurant, that could expand the number of people who may be responsible for this crash. Under Texas law, alcohol providers may share responsibility for injuries caused by a patron who was served while visibly intoxicated. The only way to know if that is what happened in this instance is to dig into the Ford driver’s actions.

The injured Suzuki driver and her family deserve to know everyone who may have played a role in this accident.
