February 20, 2026, a woman was injured following a pedestrian accident at around 9:00 p.m. along South 27th Street.

According to officials, the collision happened at the intersection of South 27th Street and South Treadaway Boulevard. It appears a 46-year-old woman was on foot at the time when a vehicle struck her. As a result, the woman was seriously injured.

Authorities allege that the driver involved may have been under the influence of alcohol, and they recommended a charge for DWI. Additional details are unavailable at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

If the allegations of drunk driving prove to be true, then charges would certainly be appropriate. But seeing there’s full accountability after an alcohol-related accident often requires more than just charging the drunk driver. Investigations often reveal there was a negligent alcohol provider also involved in the accident.

Simply put, it’s unlawful in Texas for bars and other alcohol providers to over-serve someone who is obviously intoxicated. If they do so, and that leads to people getting hurt, the alcohol provider can be held responsible for that. But if the investigations just begin and end at the crash scene, those negligent establishments can easily slip under the radar. I’ve handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers, and I simply lost count of how many times we investigated an establishment who police never bothered looking for.

That’s why I wonder if the full story is being told here. If it’s true there was a drunk driver involved, there should be appropriate consequences for that. However, accountability should mean that all negligent parties face the appropriate consequences. That can’t happen if no one is even looking for a possible accomplice.
