The collision occurred at the intersection of County Road 1200 North and County Road 300 East just before 5:30 p.m. According to officials, 35-year-old Corey Mitchell of Mattoon was driving south on County Road 300 East when a semi-truck allegedly struck the driver’s side of his vehicle. Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene. His two passengers, 37-year-old Amanda Wilson of Mattoon and a 5-year-old child, were transported to the hospital for treatment.
