Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Unfortunately, it’s dangerous to be out and about after midnight thanks to how many drunk drivers are out on the road that time of day. If it’s true this incident was alcohol related, it tragically wouldn’t be too surprising. I can’t begin to count how many times families came to me because they or a loved one were hurt by such senseless actions. It doesn’t help a lot of that behavior was aided by the establishment that illegally over-served those drivers. It may surprise people to learn just how many businesses in their community contribute to accidents like this one.

Whether this will end up with a driver behind bars or go so far as to see a local business face serious penalties or even a license suspension will depend on evidence that authorities haven’t yet made public. Hopefully they’re at least working behind the scenes to ensure the victim and their loved ones know all the facts.
