Ellis County, TX — November 21, 2024, a woman was injured in a rear-end truck accident at approximately 6:30 a.m. along U.S. Highway 67.
According to authorities, a 36-year-old woman was traveling in a Toyota Tundra on U.S. 67 in the vicinity of the Overlook Drive overpass when the accident took place.

Traffic was reportedly slow in the area in the time leading up to the accident. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a Peterbilt truck collided with the rear-end of the Toyota. The impact pushed the pickup truck forward into the back of an Infiniti. The woman from the Tundra sustained reportedly serious injuries as a result of the wreck. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When crashes like this one occur, people often assume they are the result of a simple lapse in attention. However, in my experience, wrecks involving large trucks and rear-end collisions require a deeper look into the potential contributing factors to understand what truly went wrong.
Why did the Peterbilt truck fail to stop in time to avoid colliding with the Toyota Tundra? Was the driver distracted, fatigued, or following too closely for the slower traffic conditions? Could mechanical issues with the truck, such as faulty brakes, have played a role? These are vital questions that need to be answered through a thorough investigation.
The trucking company responsible for the Peterbilt should also come under scrutiny. Companies are tasked with ensuring their vehicles are properly maintained and their drivers are qualified to safely navigate complex traffic situations. Did the company implement proper training programs to prepare drivers for operating in high-traffic areas? Was the truck regularly inspected to ensure its systems were fully operational? Furthermore, was the driver under pressure to meet a tight schedule, potentially encouraging unsafe practices like speeding or cutting corners? These questions are critical to determining whether the company bears some responsibility for the events that led to this crash.
Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the accident. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain critical evidence, it’s essential to examine every factor to ensure those impacted by the incident receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
