Georgetown, CO — June 19, 2024, four people were injured following a truck accident at approximately 12:30 p.m. along Interstate Highway 70.
According to authorities, a previous accident involved an 18-wheeler with a fire had slowed traffic in the eastbound lanes of I.H. 70 to a stop in the vicinity near Georgetown when the secondary accident took place.
Officials indicate that, apparently partly due to the downhill grade of the road, an 18-wheeler was unable to appropriately slow and stop for the traffic conditions. As a result, it collided with the approximately five other vehicles. Three people were hurt badly enough to merit transportation to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive treatment. A fourth injured victim reportedly sought medical attention without the aid of EMS transport. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time.
