Palmview, TX — November 25, 2023, a DPS trooper was injured due to an alleged intoxicated driver accident early Saturday on Western Road.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash occurred at around 5:25 a.m. in the area of Western Road and 5 Mile Road.
Officials say that a DPS troopers was in an SUV patrol vehicle stopped at a stop sign along Western Road. While there, it appears that a car crashed into the trooper’s vehicle, injuring the trooper. Two people from the other vehicle then allegedly attempted to flee the scene, but it appears authorities arrested the two suspects. The driver is also accused of driving while intoxicated. Further information is unclear right now.

One thing reports do not mention right now is if the suspected intoxicant involved was drugs or alcohol. Investigations can be quite different depending on which substance was involved. For example, alcohol can lead to investigations into an alcohol provider, as they could face charges for over-serving someone who then causes a crash. Drugs, on the other hand, can come with a whole slew of federal charges depending on the circumstances. It would likely take a lot more than preliminary news reports to say for sure what all is going to follow these events.
