Centre County, PA — June 20, 2023, three people were killed and two were injured following a tractor-trailer accident after midnight on I-80.

According to officials withe Pennsylvania State Police, the crash took place along the westbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 156 in the Milesburg area. Troopers state that the incident involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle somehow colliding, sending the tractor-trailer off-road and the passenger vehicle onto the shoulder. One person reportedly had minor injuries due to that crash.

After this, however, another collision occurred. It happened as a Good Samaritan was reportedly walking to help at the initial crash scene. Another tractor-trailer apparently crashed into a passenger vehicle, ejecting two occupants. The Good Samaritan was then hit by the passenger vehicle that was pushed by the tractor-trailer.

As a result of the crash, the two people thrown from the wreckage and one person still inside that same vehicle sustained fatal injuries. The Good Samaritan hit in the chain-reaction had serious injuries and was flown to a hospital. It appears the driver of the second tractor-trailer was also hurt after the truck careened down an embankment.

Currently, there are no additional details about the crash that can be confirmed. The incident is still under investigation.
