Edinburg, TX — December 10, 2024, a man sustained injuries as the result of a tractor accident at around 2:09 p.m. along West Monte Cristo Road.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened in the area of the West Monte Cristo Road and McColl Road intersection.

Investigators said that a 34-year-old man was in a Ford Fusion traveling westbound along Monte Cristo. In a series of events unclear, the Ford and a John Deere tractor, also going westbound, collided. Due to this, the Ford Fusion driver sustained serious injuries.
It does not appear the tractor driver had any injuries. Right now, no further information about the crash is available.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
One of the bigger challenges after any serious accident is making sure investigators are being thorough enough. It would shock people how often we got a case where independent accident investigations showed that authorities either jumped to conclusions or entirely overlooked certain possible factors they felt weren’t important.
For example, did authorities look into possible vehicle defects? Did something wrong with a vehicle cause the crash, or did faulty safety devices result in preventable serious injuries? What is signage like in the area? Was the tractor following the rules of the road? Did any nearby security cameras catch the incident on video? Have authorities pulled data from the vehicles’ Engine Control Modules (ECMs)?
Generally speaking, I can trust independent accident reconstructionists to consider these kinds of details. But families who rely on authorities to get all of this information can sometimes find themselves weeks or months down the line still looking for answers. Perhaps independent investigations would show that authorities here were more thorough, but that’s not something anyone should take for granted.
