Philadelphia, PA — June 26, 2024, a state trooper was injured following a truck accident shortly before 4:00 a.m. along Interstate Highway 76.
According to authorities, a state trooper had parked his vehicle and had is emergency lights activated in order to assist with “work zone enforcement” in the westbound lanes of I.H. 76 when the accident took place.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the patrol car was struck by a westbound 18-wheeler. The state trooper suffered reportedly moderate injuries as a result of the wreck and was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. Trucking companies have a duty to ensure their drivers are well-prepared for the challenges of the road, especially in situations involving work zones and emergency vehicles. If the company neglected proper training or allowed unsafe driving practices, they might share responsibility for the incident.
